Roll-off dumpster rental in Dalton
Approx. 9 road miles north-northwest of the yard, around 17 minutes.
Dalton is approx. 9 road miles north-northwest of the yard, around 17 minutes. Same-day or next-day when availability allows, once we've checked the Borough's rules for the job. Dalton is a borough of 1,284 at the 2020 Census.
Dalton's Solid Waste chapter has the Borough gather and remove garbage, rubbish and ashes, directly or through a contractor it designates (§ 290-2), and says no one but the Borough or its designated subcontractor may carry or transport solid waste through the Borough's streets, alleys or public places (§ 290-7). Its 2007 recycling article, though, refers to private waste collectors serving people outside the Borough's service (§§ 290-12, 290-14). We check the Borough's rules before booking.

Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Dalton

- No refuse brought in — transporting refuse into the Borough is prohibited (§ 290-9).
- Residents pay for refuse service — the Borough says local ordinance requires it.
- Private collectors mentioned — the recycling article has people outside Borough service plan recycling with their private collector (§ 290-14).
- Roads stay clear — no one may obstruct a road; obstructions come out on Borough notice (§ 294-21A).
- Traffic rules on file — Dalton's vehicle and traffic regulations are kept at the Police Department, not online (Ch. 350).
What comes out of Dalton properties
Dalton residents pay the Borough for refuse service — “BOROUGH RESIDENTS ARE REQUIRED BY LOCAL ORDINANCE TO PAY FOR REFUSE SERVICE” — collected through a contractor. A remodel, a roof or a clean-out is container work, but in Dalton we check the Borough's rules first, because of § 290-7. Small clean-outs, light renovations and yard debris fit a 10 (about 3 pickup loads); medium residential and commercial projects, renovations and yard work a 15 (4 to 5 loads); roofing, remodeling and larger home projects a 20 (about 6); large clean-outs, bulky waste and commercial jobs a 30 (about 9); and major construction and demolition a 40 (about 12). Concrete, dirt and other heavy materials go only in the smaller containers, a 10 or a 15, because of weight restrictions. Most rentals come with a standard rental period of up to 7 days. Need longer? Call (570) 354-0618 and we can extend it for a small additional fee. Finished early? Just call and we'll schedule a prompt pickup.
What goes in: wood, drywall, tile and flooring; furniture and general household junk; yard debris and branches; roofing shingles; and small appliances. What doesn't: paint, solvents or oils; tires; batteries; hazardous chemicals; gas cylinders or propane tanks; medical waste; asbestos; and appliances containing refrigerants — that's our own list. Pennsylvania law adds electronics: under the Covered Device Recycling Act, DEP says “no person may dispose of a covered device or any of its components with their municipal waste” — desktop and laptop computers, computer monitors, computer peripherals and televisions. If you're unsure about an item, call us before loading it. Our what can and can't go in a dumpster in Pennsylvania guide covers the rest. Oil-based paint, automotive fluids, batteries and propane tanks have a public route: Lackawanna County's household hazardous waste event, for county residents only, with pre-registration required — the 2026 event is Saturday, October 31, at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain, 1000 Montage Mountain Rd. The County's Environmental Sustainability office is 570-963-2017.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Dalton
Who may haul — we check first: Dalton's Chapter 290 (Ord. 6-2001) says all garbage, rubbish, dead animals and ashes are gathered and removed by the Borough, directly or through a contractor it designates (§ 290-2), and that no person, firm or corporation except the Borough or its designated subcontractor may carry, convey or transport any solid waste through the Borough's streets, alleys or public places (§ 290-7). Bringing refuse into the Borough is prohibited (§ 290-9). The 2007 recycling article has anyone not on the Borough's service file a recycling plan with help from their private waste collector (§ 290-14), and the code's definition of refuse covers garbage and ashes, with no dumpster term. We read the code through its online code host, so it's paraphrased. Statewide, DEP says Act 90 of 2002 “requires all waste transportation vehicles (trucks, truck tractors, or combinations with a registered gross vehicle weight greater than 17,000 lbs., and trailers with a registered gross vehicle weight greater than 10,000 lbs.) transporting municipal or residual waste to waste processing or disposal facilities in Pennsylvania to have a valid Waste Transporter Authorization”, and no processing or disposal facility may accept waste from a vehicle without a current authorization sticker (27 Pa.C.S. § 6206(a)). Act 90 also says no county or municipality may implement a municipal or residual waste transportation authorization or licensing program after it took effect in 2002 (27 Pa.C.S. § 6203(c)). That bars new local licensing programs; whether it reaches a local exclusive-collection clause like this one isn't ours to decide. So we check the Borough's rules before booking — the Borough Municipal Office is at 105 W Main Street, (570) 563-1800. We're licensed & insured.
In the street: we found no dumpster or roll-off permit in Dalton; the Borough's permits page lists zoning, solicitation and large-gathering permits. The code bars obstructing any road and expects whoever does to clear it and repair any damage on Borough notice (§ 294-21A), and a Borough right-of-way permit covers utility work, openings, driveways, paving, grading and drainage (§ 294-14). Dalton's traffic regulations are on file at the Police Department, not online (Ch. 350). Driveway first; for a street spot we check the Borough's rules before booking. You don't need to be home as long as we have clear instructions on where to place the dumpster and the drop-off area is accessible and free of vehicles or obstacles. Allow about 60 feet of clear space for the truck and about 25 feet of overhead clearance from trees and power lines. Our dumpsters are about 7.5 feet wide — about 14 feet long for a 10-yard, 16 feet for a 15-yard and 22 feet for a 20-yard and up. We take precautions to protect your property during delivery and pickup, and for added protection you can put plywood or boards under the dumpster's wheels.
State highways: Pennsylvania's State Highway Law says “No person, municipality or municipality authority shall open a driveway onto a State highway or open the surface of or occupy a State highway without a permit” (§ 420(b)(2)), and PennDOT handles those as highway occupancy permits. So a container never goes in the right-of-way of I-81, I-476, US-6, US-11, PA-307, PA-347 or any other state route — beside one, it goes on private property.
Covered loads: Pennsylvania law says “Every load of loose, nonbaled garbage, waste, refuse or rubbish being transported through or within this Commonwealth shall be transported in a vehicle with four solid sides and with a cover or top of a type to prevent any of the load from escaping. The cover or top shall remain tightly in place going to a disposal site. The load shall be no higher than the solid sides of the vehicle.” (75 Pa.C.S. § 4903(c.1)). Keep debris below the top rim — overfilled dumpsters can't be safely transported.
Remodel or tear-down: Pennsylvania's DEP enforces the federal asbestos NESHAP rules, and where a project is subject to them, “a minimum ten-working-day notification of the project is required to be made to DEP.” DEP adds that it “does not regulate the removal of ACM from private residences unless the residence is an apartment with five or more units.” Check with DEP before a demolition or a big renovation starts. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if an inspection finds any.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Dalton
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
Step 1: Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the address and the place - the rules follow the city or borough the property is in - what you are clearing, whether a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard or a job site, what is going in, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
Step 2: We size it and quote it flat
We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for space you will not use or need another haul, and you get one clear flat-rate price that covers delivery, pickup, disposal within the weight limit and the standard rental period of up to 7 days. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size. If the place needs a permit or has its own rules first, we check them before booking.
Step 3: Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the dumpster on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on flat, solid ground rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when available. You do not need to be home if the spot is marked and clear of vehicles and obstacles.
Step 4: Load it at your pace
Keep debris below the top rim and keep the problem items out - paint, solvents and oils, fuel, hazardous chemicals, tires, batteries, propane tanks, medical waste, asbestos and appliances containing refrigerants. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal
Call or text when it is full or the job is done and we promptly schedule the pickup. Loads go to local disposal and recycling facilities in the Scranton area, and metal, concrete and yard waste are recycled whenever possible.

Local answers
Dumpster rental in Dalton — common questions
Not covered here? Call (570) 354-0618 and ask.
Can I get a roll-off in Dalton?
We check the Borough's rules before booking. Dalton's code says only the Borough or its designated subcontractor may transport solid waste through its streets (§ 290-7), while its recycling article refers to private waste collectors. Call (570) 354-0618 with the address and the job.
Do I need a permit for a dumpster in Dalton?
We found no Dalton permit written for dumpsters, but the code bars obstructing any road (§ 294-21A). We place on the driveway first, and we check the Borough's rules before booking.
Do Dalton residents pay for refuse service?
Yes. The Borough says residents are required by local ordinance to pay for refuse service, which it collects through a contractor.
How far is Dalton from your yard?
Approx. 9 road miles north-northwest, around 17 minutes. Same-day or next-day when availability allows, once we've checked the Borough's rules.
