Local cleanups
From Scranton neighborhoods to Archbald, Blakely, Carbondale, Clarks Summit and the rest of Lackawanna County, we offer dumpster solutions for neighborhood cleanups, renovation projects and community improvement efforts. When a local group organizes a cleanup, the hard part is always the pile at the end, and a roll-off is often exactly what it needs. If your organization is planning a cleanup in the Scranton area, reach out and we will do our part - tell us what you are clearing and we help you pick the size.
One honest tip: sort before you load. Electronics stay out of the container, because Pennsylvania bans disposing of covered devices - computers, monitors, peripherals and TVs - with municipal waste; the Mid-Valley Electronics Recycling Program and the City of Scranton's electronics recycling events take them from residents. Lackawanna County runs household hazardous waste and tire collections for County residents. Keep tires, batteries, propane tanks and anything hazardous out of a cleanup container altogether.

Have a community project in Dalton, Dickson City, Dunmore, Jermyn, Jessup, Mayfield, Moosic, Moscow, Old Forge, Olyphant, Taylor, Throop or anywhere in the Scranton area? Call (570) 354-0618 or email info@steamtowndumpsterrentals.com to talk about how we can help. A cleanup container follows the same rules as any other. On a Scranton street, City Code § 400-17 requires a City permit for any roll-off placed on a street or highway; the container needs a flashing light and proper reflectors, and it may stay in the right-of-way for one day only unless the permit holder hires an off-duty police officer to keep traffic moving safely. So the driveway comes first, and for a street spot we arrange the City's street permit or check the rules with you before booking. In Archbald and Jermyn every temporary dumpster needs a Borough permit, even on private property, so we check the Borough's rules before booking. We tell you what applies before the day.
We also work alongside the homeowners, contractors and businesses that keep the area moving, and help keep neighborhoods clean during renovations, cleanups and seasonal projects.
Responsible disposal
Keeping the region clean also means sending what we haul to the right place. We work to divert reusable materials, metals and clean fill away from landfills whenever possible, and loads go to local disposal and recycling facilities in the Scranton area. Hazardous materials go to the County's household hazardous waste collection, never the container, and every load travels covered and no higher than the sides, as Pennsylvania law requires for loose waste (75 Pa.C.S. § 4903(c.1)).
