Roll-off dumpster rental in Archbald
Approx. 9 road miles northeast of the yard, around 18 minutes.
Archbald is approx. 9 road miles northeast of the yard, around 18 minutes. Same-day or next-day when availability allows, once we've checked the Borough's rules for the job. Archbald is a borough of 7,297 at the 2020 Census.
Archbald's code has three rules that matter for a roll-off. Its Quality of Life chapter needs a Borough permit displayed on every temporary dumpster, whether it sits on private property or in the right-of-way (§ 325-3L). Its construction waste article has contractors show a receipt for a dumpster, with a disposal plan, before a building or occupancy permit is issued (§ 408-21). And its refuse article gives the hauler the Borough designates each year the exclusive right to collect and haul refuse in the Borough (§ 408-13), though the Borough's own page says businesses hire their own hauler. We check the Borough's rules before booking.

Local knowledge
Getting our bearings in Archbald
Knowing a town properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.
- Permit on every dumpster — on private property or in the right-of-way, each temporary dumpster displays a Borough permit (§ 325-3L).
- Dumpster receipt for a building permit — contractors produce a dumpster receipt and a disposal plan first (§ 408-21).
- Exclusive Borough hauler — the Borough's yearly designee has the exclusive right to collect and haul refuse (§ 408-13B).
- Businesses contract separately — the Borough's page says businesses are excluded from its municipal waste contract.
- Truck-restricted streets — parts of East St, Green Hill Rd, Poplar St, Rock St, State St and Wayne St, local deliveries excepted (§ 505-28).
- Mid-Valley electronics — Archbald is part of the Mid-Valley Electronics Recycling Program.
What comes out of Archbald properties
Archbald's Garbage page lists what's “not accepted on normal trash pick ups”: ashes, cardboard, Freon-containing appliances, car parts, batteries, tires, electronics and construction materials. On a building job, the code wants the dumpster lined up before the permit: contractors produce a dumpster receipt and a disposal plan, or the Building Inspector asks for financial security instead (§ 408-21A). Small clean-outs, light renovations and yard debris fit a 10 (about 3 pickup loads); medium residential and commercial projects, renovations and yard work a 15 (4 to 5 loads); roofing, remodeling and larger home projects a 20 (about 6); large clean-outs, bulky waste and commercial jobs a 30 (about 9); and major construction and demolition a 40 (about 12). Concrete, dirt and other heavy materials go only in the smaller containers, a 10 or a 15, because of weight restrictions. Most rentals come with a standard rental period of up to 7 days. Need longer? Call (570) 354-0618 and we can extend it for a small additional fee. Finished early? Just call and we'll schedule a prompt pickup.
What goes in: wood, drywall, tile and flooring; furniture and general household junk; yard debris and branches; roofing shingles; and small appliances. What doesn't: paint, solvents or oils; tires; batteries; hazardous chemicals; gas cylinders or propane tanks; medical waste; asbestos; and appliances containing refrigerants — that's our own list. Pennsylvania law adds electronics: under the Covered Device Recycling Act, DEP says “no person may dispose of a covered device or any of its components with their municipal waste” — desktop and laptop computers, computer monitors, computer peripherals and televisions. If you're unsure about an item, call us before loading it. Our what can and can't go in a dumpster in Pennsylvania guide covers the rest. Oil-based paint, automotive fluids, batteries and propane tanks have a public route: Lackawanna County's household hazardous waste event, for county residents only, with pre-registration required — the 2026 event is Saturday, October 31, at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain, 1000 Montage Mountain Rd. The County's Environmental Sustainability office is 570-963-2017. For electronics, Archbald, Blakely, Jessup, Throop, Dickson City and Olyphant run a year-round Mid-Valley Electronics Recycling Program together — your borough office has the details.

Weight is what usually decides the size, not how much room the pile takes up.

Permits, placement and who may haul in Archbald
Dumpster permit — read this first: Archbald's Quality of Life chapter (Ord. 7-2018) says every temporary dumpster, whether on private property or in a public right-of-way, displays a valid Borough permit and is used and placed in line with Borough ordinances (§ 325-3L); tickets run $25, $50 and $100 within 12 months (§ 325-9). We found no permit form or fee posted. We check the Borough's rules before booking a container in Archbald — the Borough Office is at 400 Church Street, 570-876-1800.
Construction jobs: under the construction waste article (Ord. 3-1996), anyone doing construction work in the Borough produces a receipt for getting a dumpster and a signed disposal plan for an approved site — or, if the Building Inspector decides no dumpster is needed, posts financial security instead. A dumpster on the job is clearly marked and placed so it isn't a hazard to people or traffic, and its placement is the contractor's responsibility (§ 408-21A). All of this comes before any building or occupancy permit (§ 408-21B); a violation carries a $500 penalty and can stop the job (§ 408-20D). The article defines construction and demolition waste as lumber, concrete, pipe, brick, shingles, masonry and other materials from buildings (§ 408-19).
Who may haul — we check first: Archbald's refuse article (Ord. 1-1989) makes it unlawful for anyone the Borough hasn't authorized to collect and haul refuse in or from the Borough so as to avoid the Borough's refuse charge (§ 408-13A), and gives the hauler Council designates each fiscal year the exclusive right and obligation to collect and haul refuse in and from the Borough (§ 408-13B). The Borough's Garbage page says “Businesses are excluded from the Borough's municipal waste contract and must contract separately with a hauler for their waste removal needs.” We read the code through its online code host, so it's paraphrased. Statewide, DEP says Act 90 of 2002 “requires all waste transportation vehicles (trucks, truck tractors, or combinations with a registered gross vehicle weight greater than 17,000 lbs., and trailers with a registered gross vehicle weight greater than 10,000 lbs.) transporting municipal or residual waste to waste processing or disposal facilities in Pennsylvania to have a valid Waste Transporter Authorization”, and no processing or disposal facility may accept waste from a vehicle without a current authorization sticker (27 Pa.C.S. § 6206(a)). Act 90 also says no county or municipality may implement a municipal or residual waste transportation authorization or licensing program after it took effect in 2002 (27 Pa.C.S. § 6203(c)). That bars new local licensing programs; whether it reaches a local exclusive-collection clause like this one isn't ours to decide. So we check the Borough's rules before booking. We're licensed & insured.
Trucks: trucks are barred from parts of East St, Green Hill Rd, Poplar St, Rock St, State St and Wayne St except for local deliveries and pickups (§ 505-28), and posted weight limits apply on parts of a dozen more streets (§ 505-25). You don't need to be home as long as we have clear instructions on where to place the dumpster and the drop-off area is accessible and free of vehicles or obstacles. Allow about 60 feet of clear space for the truck and about 25 feet of overhead clearance from trees and power lines. Our dumpsters are about 7.5 feet wide — about 14 feet long for a 10-yard, 16 feet for a 15-yard and 22 feet for a 20-yard and up. We take precautions to protect your property during delivery and pickup, and for added protection you can put plywood or boards under the dumpster's wheels.
State highways: Pennsylvania's State Highway Law says “No person, municipality or municipality authority shall open a driveway onto a State highway or open the surface of or occupy a State highway without a permit” (§ 420(b)(2)), and PennDOT handles those as highway occupancy permits. So a container never goes in the right-of-way of I-81, I-476, US-6, US-11, PA-307, PA-347 or any other state route — beside one, it goes on private property.
Covered loads: Pennsylvania law says “Every load of loose, nonbaled garbage, waste, refuse or rubbish being transported through or within this Commonwealth shall be transported in a vehicle with four solid sides and with a cover or top of a type to prevent any of the load from escaping. The cover or top shall remain tightly in place going to a disposal site. The load shall be no higher than the solid sides of the vehicle.” (75 Pa.C.S. § 4903(c.1)). Keep debris below the top rim — overfilled dumpsters can't be safely transported.
Remodel or tear-down: Pennsylvania's DEP enforces the federal asbestos NESHAP rules, and where a project is subject to them, “a minimum ten-working-day notification of the project is required to be made to DEP.” DEP adds that it “does not regulate the removal of ACM from private residences unless the residence is an apartment with five or more units.” Check with DEP before a demolition or a big renovation starts. Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if an inspection finds any.

How it works
Booking a dumpster in Archbald
Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.
Step 1: Call and tell us the job
One short conversation. We ask the address and the place - the rules follow the city or borough the property is in - what you are clearing, whether a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard or a job site, what is going in, roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.
Step 2: We size it and quote it flat
We recommend the right size, so you do not pay for space you will not use or need another haul, and you get one clear flat-rate price that covers delivery, pickup, disposal within the weight limit and the standard rental period of up to 7 days. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size. If the place needs a permit or has its own rules first, we check them before booking.
Step 3: Delivered where you want it
The driver sets the dumpster on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on flat, solid ground rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, when available. You do not need to be home if the spot is marked and clear of vehicles and obstacles.
Step 4: Load it at your pace
Keep debris below the top rim and keep the problem items out - paint, solvents and oils, fuel, hazardous chemicals, tires, batteries, propane tanks, medical waste, asbestos and appliances containing refrigerants. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.
Step 5: We pick it up and handle the disposal
Call or text when it is full or the job is done and we promptly schedule the pickup. Loads go to local disposal and recycling facilities in the Scranton area, and metal, concrete and yard waste are recycled whenever possible.
